What is special about the products of Watto's Junkyard GbR?

We design our model kits ourselves based on various references.
We always focus on the level of detail and authenticity of the specific model kits considering the possibilities to install electronics without compromising on an accurate design. I.e., elements such as switches, screws and sound vents are always incorporated within the corresponding design or are realized as additional parts, so-called "FX parts", so that the model kit looks as if it came from a galaxy far, far away.
Our products are sold exclusively at our webshop. Watto's Junkyard GbR is not a reseller or dropshipper of foreign designs.

Does Watto's Junkyard GbR design and have unique pieces manufactured? Can I manufacture my design through you?

Unfortunately we cannot design and manufacture unique pieces.
Regarding the manufacturing of our products we are dependent on external suppliers, who usually do not offer the production of individual pieces. Moreover the complexity of the corresponding 3D models does not allow a profitable production of single model kits.
Watto's Junkyard GbR does not have any external designs manufactured. All distributed products are based on designs of Watto's Junkyard GbR or designs in which Watto's Junkyard GbR has significantly contributed.

What materials are the model kits made of?

The materials used can be found in the respective product description.

Do I need to assemble the products? Do I need tools?

Our products are supplied as DIY kits "DO-it-Yourself kits".
However our products are already almost completely assembled out of the box.
Therefore assembly instructions are not included with the products. Small components such as decorative elements like boxes and grips, switch elements or screws may have to be assembled by yourself.
If special tools are required, such as special Allen keys, these tools are included in the kit.
Some of our model kits require common household tools such as a Phillips screwdriver, double-sided tape and a high-strength liquid glue, e.g. superglue.
If smaller components cannot be assembled by the customer using the available product description and product photos, customers will receive detailed assembly instructions by e-mail. We do not offer guarantee for damages due to improper use of tools and assembly.

What do the terms "Gen1", "Gen2", etc. in the product names mean?

We are constantly trying to improve our constructions and designs. Thus it may happen that we offer our products in a new, revised version.
An increasing number in the product name (e.g. "Gen2") indicates the product version.

What is a "Run"?

A run is a limited batch of a particular product. "Runs" are offered as pre-orders.

How is a limitation marked, if applicable?

If the product is a limited edition, a numbered certificate is provided with the product. The certificate also proves that the product is from Watto's Junkyard GbR.

How long is the pre-order period ?

The pre-order period is usually limited to one month. More details can be found in the product description.

Why does the pre-order not have an exact delivery date?

We have our products manufactured using our own designs and do not purchase finished products to be resold.
For the production of our designs we rely on external suppliers with whom we agree on an estimated time frame for manufacturing.
Watto's Junkyard GbR has no control over the supply chains and production processes of these external suppliers.
Other reasons for delays in the availability of a product may be caused by higher circumstances or by the correction of qualitative flaws.
We try to account for such delays in our delivery times, but we cannot guarantee a binding delivery date due to the aforementioned reasons.
We keep our customers informed about the progress of manufacturing by email.

Why should I pre-order a product?

Our products are usually strictly limited, to a maximum of 150 pieces or less. There is no inventory built up for stock. If the quantity is already sold out in the pre-order, there is no stock for sale.

Why do I have to pay several deposits for a pre-order? Can I also pay the total price directly?

Usually a pre-order has a total of three installments in the sum of 50 percent, 25 percent and 25 percent of the respective total cost of a product.
 Therefore there are different payment schedules for the installments based on the progress of the product production.
On the one hand you are able to secure a limited product with an installment and on the other hand you can pay the total amount comfortably in several installments.
The final payment including shipping costs is due when the product is available for delivery.
The individual payment schedules are listed in the description of the particular product.
If desired, the total price of the product can also be made in one payment. However the shipping costs are due only when the order is ready for shipment.

When will sold out items be available again?

Usually our products are limited to a certain number of pieces in so-called "runs". 
A product is produced in batches and is not continuously available. If there is sufficient interest, the product may be offered again as a re-release.

What is the waiting list?

You can join the waiting list for a particular sold-out product if you want that product to be re-released. If enough people have signed up for the waiting list for a particular product, we will create a corresponding offer and the particular product will be offered for pre-order. An entry on the waiting list does not represent a binding purchase of a product, but helps us to estimate the interest in a re-release. As soon as a product you have signed up for on the waiting list is available for pre-order, you will receive an email with a non-binding link to the corresponding pre-order option."

Where and how do we ship orders?

We ship worldwide. If you can't find a particular country in the webshop at the checkout, write us at info@wattos-junkyard.com and we will process the purchase with you. Within Germany, the European Union (EU), to the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Norway we ship with DHL.
To customers outside the EU, so-called third-party countries, we ship exclusively with DHL Express. We recommend all customers to choose insured shipping as delivery method. In case your package did not arrive as planned, e.g. damaged or not at all, please contact us immediately, so that we can work out a solution together with DHL and if necessary supply a replacement.
Claims due to damage or loss of a package must be made within a reasonable time. If a proper delivery has taken place and a proof of delivery is available, no claim is possible. More about this topic is written in our terms and conditions.

When do we ship?

We ship within 7 business days after completed payment, given that the item is in stock and ready for shipment. More about this topic is written in our T&C's.

Why does the shipping to me take so long?

We ship from Germany. Depending on the political and economic world situation, delivery time may vary. For international orders from third party countries different shipping methods, DHL and DHL Express, can be selected. Depending on the import regulations of the destination country the delivery time will be increased by the duration of the customs clearance process, if applicable. Watto's Junkyard GbR has no influence on the customs clearance.

Why is shipping to me so expensive?

We ship from Germany. Depending on the political and economic world situation shipping to distant places may be more expensive. We have no influence on the pricing. The prices are determined by DHL and DHL Express.

Do I have to pay customs and import duties to receive my shipment?

Since we ship from Germany customers residing within the European Union do not have to pay any customs or import duties upon delivery. International customers from third party countries may have to pay customs and import duties when importing into the destination country. It is the responsibility of each customer to be informed about any customs procedures and duties.

Why do I have to wait so long to receive my order?

It may be the case that the purchased product (pre-order) is still in production or in the subsequent quality control.
We regularly send updates to the respective orders by email. More details can be found in the item description and the terms and conditions.

What payment options are available?

We offer payment in advance, instant bank transfer, credit card and PayPal for customers from the European Union. Credit card and PayPal are available for customers from third-party countries.

Why do the product prices differ between wattos-junkyard.de i.e. wattos-junkyard.eu and wattos-junkyard.com?

Our product prices differ between the webshops wattos-junkyard.de i.e. wattos-junkyard.eu and wattos-junkyard.com, because the prices are based on different tax rates due to the German and European tax law.
In the webshop wattos-junkyard.de i.e. wattos-junkyard.eu gross prices are shown, because we are obliged to collect 19% sales tax from customers residing within the European Union and to pay it to the tax office.
For customers from third countries the net price is shown, because we are not obliged to charge 19% sales tax for the corresponding purchases.
As a consequence customers from third-party countries have to pay higher shipping fees and if applicable import duties, which do not have to be paid by customers residing within the European Union.

Do we offer refunds?

For customers from Germany and the European Union, EU law applies. 14 days after receipt of the goods purchased items can be returned without giving any reason and the purchase price will be refunded. The product must be returned undamaged by customers. For customers outside the EU, the law of the respective residence applies, usually returns are excluded. More details can be found in our terms and conditions.

Do I have a warranty on my purchased items?

We guarantee that the model kits delivered are complete and functioning. This does not apply to a "second-hand purchase" from a private or third-party seller, e.g. on Ebay.
Though we perform an extensive and strict quality control, unfortunately errors can still occur, so we ask you to check your model kit upon receipt carefully.
Complaints must be made within a reasonable period of time. Although our model kits are sold as new, they are NOT offered as flawless.
Minor surface imperfections may exist and are excluded from any claim.
In case of damage e.g. by the consumer due to inappropriate use warranty is excluded. More details can be found in the terms and conditions.

Are replacement parts available?

Generally replacement parts are not available, because our products are limited and manufactured according to the number of pre-orders.
However we try to stock smaller parts in small quantities.
If you need a replacement part, please send us an email and we will try to supply the requested part.
A general availability or a guarantee on replacement parts is excluded.

For which purpose can I use my product?´

Our products are mainly offered as collector's items or exhibition pieces.
It is also possible to use them as accessories for e.g. costumes. We do not recommend the use of our products for the purpose of "exhibition fights" unless our products are explicitly marked for this purpose in the article description.
Even if a possible use for "exhibition fighting" is indicated, the customer uses the product at his own risk. Watto's Junkyard GbR is not liable for destruction or damage of its products in case of inappropriate use. More about this topic is written in our terms and conditions.

Are there any chassis for the products of Watto's Junkyard GbR available?

Watto's Junkyard GbR does not design and sell chassis for the products offered.
However we work closely with various vendors who offer their chassis for sale in their own name and interest e.g. on platforms like "Shapeways". We do not guarantee any availability of chassis for our model kits.

Do the model kits come with electronics?

No, we offer the model kits only without electronics. However the model kits can be installed with electronics by the customer.

Are there any vendors that will install electronics in the model kits for me?

Watto's Junkyard GbR does not sell electronics components or model kits with electronics.
We also do not install electronics. On request we can name various vendors, national and international, with corresponding services.
These vendors act in their own name and interest. If the buyer is interested in corresponding services, he has to make his own agreement with suitable vendors. Watto's Junkyard GbR is not liable for the service of such vendors.
